Tragedy strikes again

Dearest Blog family, please keep my family uplifted in prayer.  One week ago my brother in law called to tell me that our niece (my husband's sister's daughter) who is a truck driver was missing. I received news from my brother in law this afternoon that her body was found.  She suffered a blow to the head which fractured her skull and was badly burned, but a positive identification was made with DNA and finger prints as no dental records were available. Specifics are sketchy at best, but the suspect believed to have committed this crime is in police custody.  I don't know what to say to my poor sister in law.  It just isn't the natural order of things for the elders of a family to bury their young.  Here, we've experienced just that very thing for two weeks in a row.
I am okay, but my husband's grief is so very nonexpressive that I wonder where he stores all of his tears and sadness...surely he feels these things, too.  One of the hardest things for me is watching my children try to understand the cruelties to which life sometimes falls prey.  They are still reeling from the unexpected death of a classmate who was buried just last week.  This is very tough for them.  They were not really close to their cousin because there is a considerable age difference, but family is family, and when one member hurts or suffers, we all do to some degree.  I only hope that my faith is sufficient to get us through the next couple of weeks.  Until next time...

  6. Oh, my goodness that beautiful girl!

One of the hardest things for me is watching my children try to understand the cruelties to which life sometimes falls prey.

How can our children understand, when we so often don't. "Why would anyone do this to her." has got to be going through each of your minds and hearts. I only hope that she "was somewhere" else when all this was happening to her body. I know from my own brushes with death, that no matter how the situation may seem to others or what's going on bodily, God is there with His unsurpassing peace and it's that peace--that heavenly peace which you feel.

Holy Jesus, Prince of Peace, console this family as they mourn the loss of their beautiful niece and daughter. Send forth into their hearts Your Holy Spirit, the Comforter You promised. Reassure them, that you were with their little girl to the end and that she is now (as she was then), surrounded by Your unimaginable peace. Into Your arms, we entrust her body and soul, that she may eternally be at rest, awaiting joyfully for the resurrection of her body, which You will make whole once more. We also pray for the person who committed this horrible crime, that you give him a contrite and broken spirit-that whatever the world broke in him, may be healed and that he too may experience wholeness, peace and reconcilation with You and all whom he has harmed.

Pray for us to God, sweet angel.

    In Jesus' Name- Amen.

  7. Oh my dear. I am so sorry. So, so very sorry. I can not imagine losing a loved one to homicide. I will be in prayer for your family and for hers, as I can not grasp the pain you must be feeling.

I also just read about the teenager in your town. That is so tragic. And, you are so right...there is something so wrong about a parent burying a child.

Life just seems so unfair sometimes.

    God bless you all...

  9. Thank you all, ladies, for your comforting words and prayers during this time. When I logged on, the Bible verse to the right was from Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted." Each of your comments is a blessing to me. Thank you.

  12. Eastlyn. I don't know what to say. This is heartbreaking. I hope that the Good Lord wraps his loving arms around her parents, and your family and that somehow you find peace in this unsightly tragedy.
